Ep. 61 | 5 Things I've Done to Change My Health

Over the years I've struggled with a variety of different health issues that have interfered with my everyday life…

Chronic migraines. Pain flares. Adrenal fatigue. Depression and anxiety. Severe premenstrual mood swings. Hormonal imbalance. Candida. And so much more.

A few years ago everything finally came to a head, and I knew I needed to make some changes if I was going to be able to show up well for my life.

So I got help, started making changes, and in this episode I’m taking you behind the scenes to hear exactly what I’ve done to heal my body, improve my health, and finally feel better.

Wherever you’re at in your health journey, I want you to know that there is hope and it is possible to find answers, make changes, and see improvement.

Highlights From This Episode

  • My health issues didn’t happen overnight…they were the result of years and years of poor diet, nutrient depletion, stress, inadequate sleep, and toxic exposure.

  • God designed the body to function holistically, which means everything is intricately connected - mind, body, soul.

  • It’s important to get to the root cause of what’s causing health issues and correct the problem there, instead of trying to simply manage symptoms, which is ultimately like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound (it won’t work in the long run!)

  • If at all possible, get help finding answers from a qualified professional like a functional medicine practitioner.

  • The key dietary changes that helped me were eliminating or reducing gluten, grains, dairy, legumes, sugar and alcohol.

  • I’ve found taking supplements like vitamin d, probiotics, methylation support, omega 3, and magnesium to be very helpful.

  • Getting adequate sleep is SO important, and it was my first priority as I began working to heal my body.

  • Many different things can put stress on the body, which can deplete your health over time.

  • One size does NOT fit all when it comes to exercise. Sometimes you’ll need to change your approach.

  • We’re surrounded by things that our toxic to our bodies, including our food, our water, the air environment around us, and the products we’re using. We can make choices that help reduce our toxic exposure in order to help our bodies heal.
