Ep. 58 | The Real Secret to Living a Better Life

We all ultimately want the same things in life: to be healthy, have energy and feel good. To have thriving and fulfilling relationships. To never lack the things we need and want. To be be successful, live comfortably, and make a difference in the world.

It’s a universal fact: on some level, no matter our season or circumstance, we all have a deeply-rooted desire to be, do and live better.

Everywhere you turn nowadays it seems like there’s another trendy book, program, or guru promising you some new way to have it all.

But is it really possible? In this episode let’s take a look at what it truly takes to live a better life, this year and beyond.

Highlights From This Episode

  • Everything the world promises is just an imitation of what your soul is really craving: abundant life in fellowship with God

  • To follow Jesus and live life God’s way, you’ll have to live differently than everyone else around you

  • Right now the world is preaching a gospel that says it’s all about you, and it’s all up to you. That you can be the hero of your own story. And while that kind of motivational gospel sounds like it must be true, it’s really just an incomplete imitation of real truth, the kind of truth your soul is aching for: that Jesus is the only way to true, lasting abundant life.

  • Jesus is the real hero of our story, which means the weight is off friends! It’s not all up to us. We all have a role to play in our lives (obviously)….but it’s a supporting role. Jesus has already made the way. Now all he asks is for us to follow.

  • If you really stop and think about it, the gospel wouldn’t be very good news if our lives were actually all up to us, would it?

  • It’s incredibly important for us to continually renew our minds with actual truth (God’s truth) so we can tell the difference between how the world is telling us to live, and how Jesus is leading us to live

  • The fruit that is produced when we abide in Christ are what enable us to do what matters most, as effectively as possible, for God’s glory.

  • Ask God to show you what HE has for you this year, and make sure you’re prepared to show up and do whatever he’s asking you to, believing the truth that whatever he calls you to he’ll equip you for.

  • God tells us that his word will be a light to our path. He’ll show us the way, but he is the one who will do the heavy lifting…and that is such good news!
